Deciding what to buy organic can be confusing not to mention expensive. But, many foods have such low levels of harmful chemicals that we do not need to worry about buying them organic.

Alhamdulillah, The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has done all of the brain work for us. They have come up with a list of “Dirty Dozen” foods. These are items that should always be purchased and consumed organic. They contain the highest levels of pesticides.

Choosing organic from the list below can lower your pesticide exposure by almost 80 percent.

“The Dirty Dozen” — these are ranked in the order of worst offender to least:

  1. celery
  2. peaches
  3. strawberries
  4. apples
  5. blueberries (domestic)
  6. nectarines
  7. sweet bell peppers
  8. spinach
  9. kale/collard greens
  10. cherries
  11. potatoes
  12. grapes (imported)

Keep it in your purse or wallet, or make as refrigerator magnets.  There are 8 lists per sheet.
